SIGMA 50MM F1.4 EX DG HSM NIKON

This is a large aperture prime lens with a standard focal length of 50mm, ideal for all digital SLR cameras. This lens has superior peripheral brightness even at the maximum aperture and corrects a possible sagittal coma flare. This lens is perfectly suited for a wide range of subjects enabling outstanding, sharply defined images against a nicely blurred background.

  • Best. 50mm. Ever.

I've gone through a lot of unimpressive 50mm prime lenses over the years. I finally decided on this one last year and bought it just before the holiday season. I've had the opportunity to use it quite a bit since then. I rally like this lens for a lot of reasons. First, it has a 77mm filter diameter, all of my lenses now have a 77mm filter diameter. (I only need one polarizer.) Second, the colour rendering is amazing. Third, and final, this lens is sharp, sharp, sharp; sharp without effort. If I had a gripe, which I don't, it would be that this is a very big lens. I believe it's the biggest in its class. This lens is nearly perfect. It is, in my opinion, the best lens in its class.

Bought this lens for the great bokeh and sharpness. I tried it on Nikon D700 and quiet happy with a result. The glass is heavy and massive ,but the filling is right on.Fast and furious :)

I had the nikon 50 1.4D and the 50mm 1.8D, i tried the nikon 50mm1.4G in shop and compared, the Sigma is more expensive, larger (77mm) and a little heavier and well worth the extra cost. Hands down the sharpest 50 I've ever used. gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is expensive for a 50 prime but still well worth it.
