SIGMA 70MM F2.8 EX DG MACRO NIKON

This medium telephoto macro lens is ideal for both digital SLR cameras and 35mm film SLR cameras. The 70mm focal length gives an equivalent field of view as our popular 105mm macro lens when used on digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor. The design of this lens makes it suitable for taking pictures in all situations from infinity to 1:1 macro, both with natural light conditions or flash.

This is an extremely sharp lens for macro and regular use. I use it on a Nikon D7000 with superb results. For macro work I use manual focus in live view rather than auto focus. In regular use the auto focus works well with no issues. There is focus limiter switch that is handy to have so that the auto focus doesn't have to go through the whole range. The only down side to this lens is the screw in lens hood-- I would have much preferred a bayonet attachment system like on the Nikkor lenses. I'm glad I got a B&W filter for this with its superior construction and threads. I think B&W filters use brass rather than aluminum that is on other brands. Aluminum threads can bind very easily. The build quality is excellent and the lens is a joy to use.
