  • GPS Feature Doesn't Exist

  • November 23, 2011
  • By: Richard

This card does not have a GPS feature. There is no built-in GPS - so Ron's low rating on the grounds that it doesn't do something it never claimed to do seems unfair. (And silly) What it DOES have is a geotagging system based on a WiFi database. Clearly that does not have the accuracy (or coverage) that some might want. In which case, a camera with a GPS built-in would be an appropriate purchase. But, come on! A one-star snit because you misunderstood what it was doing?

  • An excellent tool for the stuio, classroom or photobooth

I purchased this unit to use on a Pentax K20d (please refer to compatibility chart provided by manufacturer to save grief) and it works with my camera quite well. Used extensively at a charity photobooth over the weekend, and it streamlined my process without having to use a tethering cable (less to trip over, get damaged) Fast Jpg transfer using Ad-hock and wireless network, sluggish on RAW for the obvious reason of pure file size. Would be fantastic in RAW+ mode in studio with raw transfer turned off. Software is simple and intuitive, however will confound end users who do not understand the basics of WiFi security let alone using Ad-Hock. If you do not know what your network SSID and security methods are, please do not purchase one of these cards, as you will not be able to get it to work. Does exactly as promised, and does so as expected when considering the limits of the medium used.

  • GPS feature works only sometimes

  • February 06, 2011

I have this card in my Panasonic Lumix FH-20. I got both at Christmas and have found that the Geo Tagging feature is over rated, out of 68 pictures I have taken, it has only Geo Tagged 11 and 2 of those were a wrong position by approximately 3 KM. Not a very good success rate in my books!!! I should have bought the Panasonic DMC ZS7 with GPS built into the camera.
