I do videography as a hobby and had a chance to use this tripod to do the wedding video for a friend. I had 3 camcorders for the wedding and needed a third tripod. A friend lent me this tripod and now I don't know how I'll ever go back to using my cheap tripods. I had never used a tripod of this quality and will never do another event without one. First, it swivels around and up and down as smooth as butter. I heard no sounds from this one as opposed to the other two cameras using cheaper tripods which had terrible squeaking. Second it extends about 6 ft up. I operated the camera from the middle of the dance floor and swiveled slowly around. This allowed me to get awesome shots of the crowds dancing which the bride and groom loved. Third..it had really grippy feet which was great for the outdoor portions (picture taking) of the wedding day. This tripod's only con is also a plus. It is extremely solid and sturdy which unfortunately but understandably makes it heavy. During the wedding day I needed someone just to carry the tripod around for me. So, this tripod is superb for event videography...but too bulky and heavy for traveling. Loved it. The next event I do, I will probably suck it up and purchase one of these but perhaps look at the lighter versions as I would love to be able to have the quality of a manfrotto while on a trip.
