Great Lens for the money

I have had this lens for over a year and I love it. If you are comparing this to the EF-S 55-250 and wondering whether it is worth the extra money, the answer is definitely yes. The build quality on this is much higher (mostly metal versus plastic and much crisper solid movements). It also feeds all its information such as focal length and distance to the camera (which can be used by a speedlite to zoom the flash, or in Canon's DPP software to do adjustments, assuming you shoot in RAW format), and it has two stabilizer modes. The dual stabilizer modes (one for fixed subjects, one for moving subjects) really makes a difference when you are taking pictures of kids playing sports or wildlife at a distance. The images I get from this lens are really clear and sharp, a real step up from the lens I used before (an old canon 75-300 version I). The IS makes a HUGE difference when you try to take pictures at high zooms, unless you use a tripod which is not always practical with moving or spontaneous subjects. The 58mm opening at the front is not as good as the equivalent L lens, but at less than half the price you can't really complain. Also, if you shoot in RAW Canon's DPP software can fix any vignetting you get (it is fairly mild so easily corrected).
