  • Great beginner DX wide angle

This is a great lens for those looking to get into wide angles on DX, but don't want to spend too much and don't mind a little optical imperfection. The lens feels solid with nice zoom/focus rings, and even a focus/distance scale as well! On the photography side - it's a decent lens, although there is distortion, fall-off and a loss of sharpness at the edges. This is all corrected fairly easily in any recent version of Lightroom (just check off the Lens correction and it will do it for you). I personally like the distorted look sometimes for added creative effect. The lens isn't very fast, but it's sharpest around f/9 - f/11, so I generally just keep it set at that, and your depth of field is large enough to cover everything. Again, it's a really great lens for beginning wide-angle on DX, and I'm very happy with the pictures I've been able to take with it. Get right in close and fill the entire frame with wide-angle glory!

  • very sharp and super wide

I bought this lens in order to shoot better interior photos for real estate and it's really quite good for the money. It's not super fast but it is quite sharp, even wide open. The build quality is also quite good. It has some weight to it and does not feel cheap by any means. The only draw back is that the corners and edges are heavily distorted in a rather strange way. The distortion is not easily corrected in post. Overall though I'm satisfied with this lens.
