This was the first flash that I have ever bought and I am so glad I did. It works great in every lighting condition. I purchased an after market shoe for this which can be attached to a spare tripod so that the flash can be used a 'slave' creating great shading. It may seem a bit expensive, especially if you are happy with your built in kit flash but believe me when I tell you that the difference in your pictures will be noticeable immediately. Watch a few vids on youtube about techniques , like boucing the light off the ceiling to diffuse it, and you will be so happy you picked this up. I hope this may have helped you make a decision.
