the canon 430ex II is a fantastic flash for all your strobist needs. small, lightweight, great build quality. comes with nifty case and a tripod stand. Amazing quality at an amazing price point. Easy to use for those looking to start with flash photography and a great companion to any photographer. A must have addition to any photographer's kit bag. You never know when you will need a little boost in low light. Has the ability to tell what focal length your attached lens is at and adjusts automatically. Great product, highly recommended. 5 full stars

This is a great flash with a lot of useful features. With my Canon 7D I can use it as a slave unit, which is useful in getting the flash away from the camera. With other cameras you can purchase an off camera sync cord for not too much money and do the same thing. I had the 270EX and wanted a flash with more features and this one does the job.

  • Great flash

This flash is great and gets the job done very well. I am also very impressed with the staff. The girl spent 5 minutes with me showing me some features and how to sync it with my T3I using the wireless off-camera. If you are looking at this flash and the 580ex, the only thing the 580 has is tad brighter and can act as a master flash.

  • Good Flash but Pricey

I like the hassle free on camera metering this flash offers in auto exposure modes. It has plenty of manual control as well, and is easy to set up using the flash's LED screen. However it's power saving feature can sometimes become frustrating when using it off camera. I also like how small and light this unit is, it is always in my camera bag. It's handy for its auto focus lamp, even if I don't plan on firing the flash. Canon flashes are pricey so make sure you know what you are paying for. If you want simplicity in a small package this may be the right flash for you.
