    this is a fantastic extremely sharp lens. Simply the best in the Sony/Minolta family of lenses in the 24-70mm range. The lens is very sharp wide open. The SSM is fast and silent especially when one is using the video mode of the Sony A55. The only drawbacks are: the lens is heavy (does not balance well with my Sony A55), and the lens is very dear $$$$$$. Having said that, this lens is worth every cent.
